Volunteer Rewards
Not all of our volunteer work is inside the shelter. To find us, go East on Highway 14 past Camas towards the East end of Washougal. Turn right into the Industrial Park onto 32nd Street and go to the stop sign at Index. Turn right and continue just past 27th. We are the second building on the right at 2675 South Index.
Volunteer Opportunities
For Kids
Bedtime check - a great opportunity to socialize and enjoy the cats. Check water and food and settle cats in their cages for the night. A wonderful family opportunity.
Time commitment 1 - 2 evening hours.
Adoption aides for off-site adoption events. Age 12 and up. Help set up adoption area, hand out information and greet potential adopters.
Aluminum can collecting and recycling.
Special projects putting up posters, handing out flyers, and taking part in special presentations.
Repackaging donated pet food for the food bank.
For Grown Ups
Shelter cleaning includes changing litter boxes, feeding, and light housekeeping, Time commitment 2 morning hours.
Transport cats to vet appointments in your vehicle
Time commitment 1 -2 hours weekly as needed.
Help with fundraising, foster care, adoptions or our on-line newsletter, we can use your talents.
Pet Food Bank - Help manage incoming donated pet food and distribution to local food banks. Need vehicle to haul bags. Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
Shelter Secretarial Duties - Answer behavior phone calls using our Pets for Life training, follow up on adoptions, write and send notes, mail coupons and brochures, place newspaper notices...a variety of interesting work that can be done from home.
Shelter maintenance person to help with light repairs.
Save empty ink cartridges from work or home printers. You can recycle them for cash to help the shelter.
